Job Description

A technology-driven manufacturing company specializing in advanced label printing, laser marking, and automation equipment is hiring a Purchasing Manager. This person will lead our procurement function and oversee the full sourcing, purchasing, and inventory management lifecycle. This role is responsible for managing supplier relationships, optimizing purchasing processes, ensuring supply continuity, and leading a team to meet business and production needs.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement Leadership

  • Lead the purchasing function, overseeing sourcing strategy, supplier selection, contract negotiation, and cost optimization.
  • Develop and implement procurement policies, best practices, and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance, negotiate pricing and terms, and resolve issues impacting quality, delivery, or cost.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers to support business growth and mitigate supply chain risk.

Purchase Order & Inventory Management

  • Oversee the full purchase order lifecycle-creation, approval, tracking, and reconciliation-to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Production, and Warehouse teams to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Monitor inventory and demand trends to prevent shortages or surplus and support production schedules.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, mentor, and develop members of the purchasing team.
  • Provide guidance on procurement processes, systems, and vendor communications.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on accuracy, service, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to align purchasing activities with organizational needs.
  • Support cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive purchasing or procurement experience, including supplier management and negotiation responsibilities.
    • Experience in a manufacturing, electronics, or technology products environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of people management experience leading purchasing, supply chain, or operations teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing or technology environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with procurement or ERP software strongly preferred.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of lean principles, demand planning, or supply chain optimization strategies would be a plus.
